16-1 FUNDRAISING DINNER

The 16-1 Potluck Dinner has been scheduled for 7PM on Saturday, June 11th, at the Theophilo Braga Brotherhood Club, 26 Teofilo Braga Way , East Providence , Rhode Island . Tickets are priced at $10/Adult and $5 for children under 12 years of age.

10 tickets will be distributed to each girl on the team to sell for this event so the target audience will be a minimum of 110 people.  I will print up the tickets and distribute them at one of the practices within the next few weeks.  Each girl on the team will be responsible for making/donating one dish for the dinner that should feed 50 – 60 people so that there will be sufficient food for everyone in attendance.  Each girl on the team will also be responsible for making/donating one pastry/dessert item.  The event will be non-alcoholic – only soda will be served (no bartender is needed and the club will allow us to bring our own bottles of soda).  Arrangements for entertainment have not been made – perhaps someone knows of a band that will play and/or has a ‘koroake” sound system.  A couple of raffles will be held to raise some additional funds – perhaps each girl can donate an item (e.g., gift certificate, gift basket, etc.).  These are the tentative arrangements that have been made for now.

Each player will be required to bring 2-3 bottles of soda.

Proposed food items for the potluck dinner are as follows.  Please sign up for your food item during the next few practices.

Rhode Island Juniors’

April 24, 2005 Tournament Fundraiser

The Rhode Island Juniors’ Volleyball Club is hosting a tournament, for the New England Regional Volleyball Association (NERVA), at the University of Rhode Island on April 24, 2005.   16 teams from all over New England will be in attendance along with their families & friends.  We estimate at least 300 people in attendance.  For now we know the 16-1s are in the tournament.  We have 2 other courts which will be assigned and we are hoping they will be assigned to our 16-2 team.  18s are in Power League and that site has already been assigned.

We are printing a Tournament Book to distribute to all of our participants.  A sample is available for you to see.  Players may solicit ads for the booklet.  It does not matter if your team is in the event, you may still participate.  The sizes and costs of the ads are below.  This fundraiser will be a 50-50 event.  50% of the profit will go to the player who solicited the ad and 50% to the program to cover expenses for printing the booklet and to serve as a program fundraiser.  The funds raised by players can be applied to their account and do not necessarily have to be applied to a future tournament.

Here are the sizes for ads and their respective prices.

          ˙  1/8 page ad/Personal Greeting = $ 20  (No Artwork/Directions)

˙  1/4 page ad = $ 30 (Add $5 for Artwork & Directions)
